Online Participation

Attention: To send emails with questions to the conferences

If you are a long-distance participant and want to send questions to the conference you are watching, please send an email with the questions to conferencia@forumpaulofreire.org

The 6th International Meeting of the Forum Paulo will have three ways of participating:

a) In person: by being physically present at the meeting site, participating in the conferences, culture circles and/or other Forum activities.

b) Long-distance: accompanying and interacting with the Forum activities on internet only. In this case, there is no need to pay registration fees.

c) In person and long-distance: have it both ways! For people who will only attend some activities in person and who can extend their participation in the Forum on internet

Online participation will happen in two different ways:

a) In Conferences: it will happen via video/audio broadcast of the entire conference and submission of email with questions. Questions will be analyzed beforehand, according to order of submission and aptness to the subjects being discussed, and can be made at the end of the conference.

b) In Culture Circles: it will happen via audio broadcast of all Culture Circles, chat rooms in real time and submission of questions or comments via email, which can contain audio file attachments or not.

Global experimentations.

For the participants to be instructed on the procedures concerning the online participation of the 6th International Meeting, it is offered different tests:

a) Video (conferences) and audio (culture circles) live broadcast

To test the broadcasting it is offered a permanently available test on the Forum's website. There are three kinds of permanent tests:

1) On the website => http://giss.tv:8000/fpf2008.ogg (requires installation of the program VLC, explained on the procedures, click below).

2) On the chat-rooms => http://giss.tv/interface/?mp=fpf2008.ogg (requires installation of the program Java Virtual Machine, used to perform online banking and payment operations).

Dialog room – Planetary citizenship.

On this Culture Circle it is discussed conceptions and experiences of Planetary citizenship. This concept assures the making of an alternative globalization, in which it is recognized that we live in the same planet and share common principles, values and attitudes – what Paulo Freire called "universal ethics of the human being". Some subjects to be discussed in this Circle are globalization and its effects on intertransculturality, making of a new world possible and the possible ways of an emancipatory education in the 21st Century.

Dialog Room – Adults Education

It discusses the initial and continual formation of adults and children educators, teaching and learning in an awared and dialogical relation, promoting the critical exercise of citizenship. It's a space of meeting, celebration, solidarity, reflexion, formation and exchanges around the questions that involve the formation of young and adult person in a ecopedagogic and citizen perspective, with the pledge to increase the movement for the guarantee of the human right of education for all.

Dialog Room - Popular Education

Both Popular Education Culture Circles are made of works which discuss formal and non-formal educational practices, guided by Paulo Freire's theoretical and methodological principles, which contribute to the formation of a critical consciousness in order to unveil and overcome the oppressive reality. They present thoughts based on experiences with social movements, civil organizations, universities, governments, organizations and associations, and also theoretical discussions about the history and developments of Popular Education, keeping a permanent dialog between formal and non-formal education. Some subjects to be discussed in this Circle are practices and sources of Popular Education, Participative Budget, Shared Management, Juvenile Protagonism, Solidary Economy, Prison Education, Popular Culture, Cultural Translation and Dialog between Peoples.

Dialog room – Citizen Education

The Citizen Education Culture Circles bring to discussion the performance of education in the cause of and because of Citizenship. The target is to come up with eco-political-pedagogical references and concrete instruments that will make citizen education possible, and also sharing experiences about past projects. Subjects of these works are: Cities' plans on education, Democratic Management, School Councils, Evaluation and Dialogical Planning, Curriculum in a intertranscultural perspective, making of the Eco-Political-Pedagogical Project in schools, interpersonal relations, formation of social teachers, of delegates and counselors for the Participative Budget and of members of the managing councils.

Citizen Education 1

It is made of works which, following Paulo Freire's perspective on emancipatory education, discuss studies and experiences about subjects such as national curriculum, interdisciplinarity, teaching-learning, reading and writing, political and pedagogical project, health education, full-time schooling and appreciation of teachers.

Citizen Education 2

It is made of works which discuss theoretically the question of pedagogical practice according to Paulo Freire's perspective, dialogging with other theoretical references.

This Circle is made of works which discuss the Teachers and Students' formation according to a critical perspective. Subjects to be discussed are evaluation, culture circles, curriculum, long-distance education, ecopedagogy in the Eco-Political-Pedagogical Project.

Citizen Education 4

It is made of works which, following Paulo Freire's perspective, discuss the inclusion of african and afro-brazilian culture in the national curriculum, the active participation of children and adolescents in schools, inclusion of handicapped people in the educational processes and the emphasis of human rights teaching and ecopedagogy on education ênfase da educação em direitos humanos e da ecopedagogia in the Eco-Political-Pedagogical Project.
